Scallywags open the season 2-1 in Tyler

May 4, 2026 · Coach Reid

The Scallywags opened the 2026 season the way Coach Reid said they would — fast.

After a 30-minute rain delay pushed Saturday's first pitch to 11:30, the team came out swinging and never looked back, beating Tyler 8-2 behind six strong innings from Tatum McAllister and a three-RBI day from Quinn Halloran. The bullpen closed the door, and the bench did its job.

Saturday afternoon brought the toughest test of the weekend — a Houston Heat squad that came in ranked top-15 in the state. The Scallywags battled back from down 4-0, eventually tying the game in the fifth before falling 6-5 on a two-out single in the bottom of the seventh. Hard to be too upset. They earned every run.

Sunday morning, the team put it all together. Eleven runs across four innings, doubles by Avery Boudreaux and Riley Castellanos, and a complete-game three-hitter from McAllister.

Up next: the Memorial Day Mash in Mansfield. Two games Saturday, bracket play Sunday.
